General Description: This program was specifically designed to advance technology skill development and technical leadership through data science contest participation for students at University of Portland or Oregon State.
Logistics: This is a 4 month team-based virtual program. Each team will be headed by an experienced team lead and a team coordinator, and will work on a data challenge that must be completed by the end of the program. Each participant must be prepared to invest 4 to 6 hours on average weekly for the duration of this program.
Language and Time Zone: The program will be conducted in English and will operate in accordance with the PST time zone.
Program Timeline: Applicants accepted through December 2022. Program starts the first week of February 2023, and concludes at the end of May.
Participant Eligibility: The following are the various participant roles:
- Team Member: Team Members are students at either University of Portland or Oregon State University, and are willing to self-learn any needed technical skills. Team members are expected to commit 4-6 hours per week until their project is finished on or before the program end date, follow the team leader’s directions, and maintain communications with their team.
- Team Coordinator: Team Coordinator must meet all the requirements given above for the Team Member. They also work closely with their team leader to assist in the team’s logistics, while participating in technical completion of the data science challenge. Please indicate on the application form if you are interested in this role.
- Team Leader: Team Leader is by invitation only. Applications are not being accepted for this role.
