Emerging Technologists Mentoring Program

General Description: This globally available 1:1 mentoring program is for mentees who are fresh out of school, pivoting from another field, or are in their first technology related job. Particular focus is given to areas such as:

  • Starting a New Career in Data Science or Computing Technology
  • Job Searching Skills or Career Advancement Strategy
  • Technical Skills (Data Science/Analytics, Software Engineering, Technical Project Management); Interpersonal Skills (Communication, Collaboration, Self-Advocacy); Business Skills (Business Analysis, Product Management)

Commitment: Mentoring pairs will meet virtually for a total of 4 one-hour sessions over 12 weeks to earn a certificate of completion. Mentoring pairs agree on the date / time of their meetings.

Program Offering: Applications for our September to December 2023 session will be accepted at the beginning of August for both mentors and mentees, and must be submitted by August 25. The program starts in early September.

Mentee Eligibility: Open to applicants with 0 to 2 years professional technical or technology related experience, and a strong motivation to grow professionally.

Mentor Eligibility: Open to applicants with 5+ years expertise in career development, job searching skills; technical skills such as data science and analytics skills, software engineering, project management; interpersonal skills; business analytics, and/or product management skills. Previous mentoring or professional employee management experience is preferred.
