About the presenters:

Strategy – Anne Marie Weber, Digital Transformation Master
Anne Marie joined American Family in 2016 starting in Strategic Data & Analytics and recently moved into the Digital Transformation Office. She is passionate about analytics and explaining complex topics in an approachable manner. In SD&A she worked with The Life Company, Sales, SSO, and Marketing leading their advanced analytics initiatives. Prior to American Family, Anne Marie led analytics projects for the transportation, medical device, and education industries. Anne Marie has a master’s degree in economics from George Mason University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville. Anne Marie lives in Cottage Grove with her husband, two children, and two Boston Terriers. When she is not at work, she enjoys running, baking, theatre, singing, and playing the flute.

Data Engineering – Mingju Sun, Data Science Engineering Director
Ming Sun currently manages the data science engineering function at American Family Insurance. The main focus of her group is to democratize data science by providing self-service capabilities in the area of data and technology. She has over 15 years of experience in architecture and software engineering in the field of big data, mobile and application integrations. Ming has a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from National University of Singapore. Her hobbies include gardening and hiking.

Modeling – Alyssa Adams, Data Scientist and Researcher
Alyssa Adams has a PhD in Physics from Arizona State University and very generally studies what makes living systems different than non-living ones. She currently works at Veda Data Solutions as a data scientist and researcher in social complex systems that are represented by large sets of data. She completed an internship at Microsoft Research studying machine learning agents in Minecraft, which is an excellent arena for simple and advanced tasks.

Data Visualization – Jen Shepherd, Contractor specializing in data analysis and visualization
Jen Shepherd has been designing and building data dashboards since 2013, mostly using Tableau. She has a PhD in social psychology and has worked in the academic, government, non-profit, and for-profit sectors doing social science research, data analysis, and data visualization. She’s currently a contractor with the State of Wisconsin, Dept. of Children & Families – making data engagement easier and reducing time to insight through interactive visualizations and thoughtful data presentation. #DataArtist
