The Privacy Engineering Team ensures that data privacy is built into every facet of LinkedIn’s infrastructure, environment, and culture, so that our users have the clarity and ability to easily manage how and when their data is used.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a key technical leader within the Privacy Engineering organization, responsible for designing and leading projects in data governance and management. You will propose and deliver services that comprise our data handling infrastructure– creating and reviewing technical designs, making architectural decisions, and driving execution across teams of engineers. As a team lead, you will help define your team’s culture by being a role model, directly coaching and mentoring other engineers, and helping to define our strategic direction. You will work with partner teams such as data infrastructure, information security, AI, and data science on cross-team projects and initiatives. You will directly impact the future direction of data management, governance, and privacy across the entire company.

● Deliver impact by driving innovation while building and shipping software in large-scale, cross functional, and company-wide critical programs
● Design, implement, optimize, and deliver critical software systems and infrastructure that manage and govern data usage across the company
● Mentoring other engineers, defining our challenging technical culture, and helping to build a fast-growing team
● Identify, leverage, and successfully evangelize opportunities to improve data privacy practices and team productivity
● Actively improve the level of craftsmanship at LinkedIn by defining and driving best practices
● Function as a tech lead for key initiatives in Privacy Engineering, helping to define the strategy and future of data management
● Due to business needs, this position will require working an 8:00AM to 5:00PM PT schedule

Basic Qualifications:
● BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
● 4+ years of experience in software design and development
● Experience with leading and architecting enterprise and consumer applications

Preferred Qualifications:
● 6+ years experience in software design and development
● 6+ years of programming experience in an object-oriented programming language such as Java, C/C++
● Experience with large-scale distributed software infrastructures and client-server architectures
● Experience with privacy-related technologies (cookie management, encryption, identity/access management, etc)
● Experience in the design and implementation of data platforms and related disciplines, such as metadata services, data ingestion, data movement, data transformation, data governance, data science and data mining in on-prem, in the cloud, and hybrid environments.
● Experience in open-source projects and/or academic research in data privacy or data management
