Technical Lead/Senior Engineer

Eastport Analytics is searching for a Technical Lead to oversee and spearhead Eastport projects while ensuring successful delivery, client satisfaction, and solution innovation. The Technical Lead will manage a team of Eastport engineers and leverage their talents to drive project delivery through the Eastport Agile methodology.  This position will work closely with mission stakeholders throughout the process to ensure their needs are being met and will incorporate feedback into Eastport’s technical approach.  The Technical Lead is responsible for shaping and defining how the project’s objectives will be met by an iterative process and overseeing the team to execute that process while holding them accountable to project deadlines. If you were joining our team as a Technical Lead, you would look forward to engaging in activities such as:

  • Understand client’s missions, business needs and challenges as well as the business processes that support them.
  • Own and manage the technical architecture of the solution.
  • Moderate the solution creation process, coordinate agile development of the solution, and liaise between the Solution group and Practice Leads.
  • Define and evolve system concepts and technically feasible software solutions that answer client analysis challenges.
  • Research, understand, and document client challenges in order to develop the best solution concept.
  • Work with Software Engineers to select the right software tools, technologies, and approaches to address analysis requirements.
  • Oversee a team of Engineers, mentoring as needed, holding regular check-ins, and keeping the team accountable to project deadlines and deliverables.
  • Manage the solution team to design, develop and implement solutions.
  • Develop and manage the project’s budget, time boxes, resource allocation, and approach and document; track and plan the solution’s development.
  • Report project progress and success to senior management team and practice leads during monthly review meetings.

If you were joining our team as a Technical Lead, your journey up to now may have included:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years of equivalent experience in a technical working environment.
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a public trust clearance per contractual requirements.
  • Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
  • Experience with software development (Java, Python, C++, JavaScript), and data querying (SQL), data science/analytics, and visualizations.
  • Knowledge and experience in any of the following is a plus: full-stack development, Agile methodologies, Django, Apache Tomcat, Flask, JavaScript, JQuery, Bootstrap, D3.js, Angular, React, MyBatis, DevOps, Git, Jenkins, PowerBI, Dash, ETL, data analytics, machine learning, text analytics, natural processing (NLP).
  • Experience in project management and technical leadership is essential.
  • Experience leading and providing mentoring and consistent feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects of various sizes in strict time frames and concurrent deadlines.
  • Success working well in a collaborative environment and working with multiple stakeholders from a variety of professional disciplines.
  • An iterative process of project lifecycle often requires a change in approach based on client feedback and Software Engineers' technical ideas – must be flexible and focused on the client’s best interest.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills and means to explain technical information to clients, vendors, senior management and staff.
  • Self-driven with high standards of performance for self and others.
