Beyond the Code: How Linguistics Fuels End-to-End AI Innovation
Katarzyna (Kasia) Stoltmann, Head of Data Science & AI at AstraZeneca and WiBD Berlin Founder, explained what linguistics actually is and how linguistic skills can be applied in the development of end-to-end AI-driven solutions. She also shared a comprehensive roadmap for building such solutions.
– Strategy Development: Aligning business goals with data capabilities and AI/data science potential
– Status Quo Assessment: Evaluating current capabilities and finalizing strategic direction
– Implementation: Establishing data governance, building teams, and developing initial lighthouse projects using MLOPS
– Scale: Methodical roll-out and scaling of successful initiatives
– Business Integration: Ensuring meaningful adoption across the organization
The foundation underlying all these phases: Change Management, Mindset Transformation, and Effective Communication. And the use of your full potential in business
The evening culminated in a thought-provoking panel discussion beautifully moderated by Anita F.. Olena, Katarzyna (Kasia), Jennifer and Aliya provided valuable insights on AI’s evolving role in communication and data science.
Here is Aliya Boranbayeva ‘s perspective: From vision to reality: reflecting on our AI in Communication and Data event
I’m excited to share the journey of our recent event ✨ The Power of AI in Communication and Data ✨! When I first met Viktoria from Grammarly last September during Women+ in Data and AI festival, a vision sparked – bringing together brilliant minds at the intersection of AI, communication, and data science. Several months of planning later, that vision became a spectacular reality on Berlin’s tech scene.
Viktoria Kolomiets transformed our initial conversation into a powerful collaboration between Grammarly and Women in Big Data Berlin.
Anna Pavliuchyk delivered a compelling introduction to Grammarly’s groundbreaking work, showcasing how AI is transforming written communication across industries and making advanced linguistic tools accessible to everyone.
Anita F. masterfully moderated the event with the perfect balance of insight and energy, guiding our conversations with precision and ensuring every voice was heard. Her expertise elevated each discussion to new heights.
Olena Nahorna, PhD from Grammarly enlightened us with her deep expertise on building quality linguistic features in the age of LLMs. Her practical insights on balancing innovation with quality control demonstrated why Grammarly remains at the forefront of AI-powered communication tools.
Jennifer L. inspired us all with her brilliant strategies for using AI in data storytelling. As Head of Growth at HubSpot, she demonstrated how AI transforms raw data into compelling narratives that drive business decisions, emphasizing that the future lies in human-machine collaboration.
Katarzyna (Kasia) Stoltmann captivated everyone with her comprehensive roadmap for developing end-to-end AI solutions, drawing from her exceptional professional journey. Her linguistics-informed approach to AI development provided a unique perspective on building truly human-centered systems.
The synergy between these amazing professionals created an electric atmosphere of innovation, learning, and connection. From our first meeting to the final applause, this journey has reinforced my belief in the power of collaboration and shared vision.
What started as a conversation at the festival blossomed into one of the most engaging events on Berlin’s tech calendar. I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished together. Many thanks to Maria Beiner for her kind support throughout the event.
