Traditionally, from May 17th to 19th, the women of the community in Russia gather for the annual “Women Talk” conference, featuring short and engaging 20-minute presentations in a TED Talk format. These presentations cover fascinating practices for applying both soft and hard skills in the field of big data and analytics. This year, we introduced a new segment: “Failure Evening,” allowing participants to learn from the mistakes of others.

The first day of the conference was held in person, with 10 women giving short 7-minute stories and openly talking about their failures and the lessons they learned.

The second day was dedicated to the topic “Growing into Leaders”. 5 speakers shared their thoughts, life stories and presented the following topics: the first barrier to transitioning into leadership positions, emotional intelligence, leadership practices for daily focus, burnout and the experience of overcoming it, the role of soft skills.

The third day featured two in-depth presentations on data practices and techniques: “Too much or too little data? How to work in conditions of data shortage?” and “How to build dynamic control charts in Power BI for any complex system”.

To conclude the conference, we held a panel discussion on the topic of “Stories of entering the profession”, where participants shared their stories of entering, and practical advice on changing roles.

There are beautiful pictures from the event and the recordings.

Huge thanks to Polina Kolesnikova, who led the organization of the conference, and to all the volunteers who helped her.
