Women in Big Data is a grass root and inclusive organization built and operated by volunteers.
In 2015, WiBD started with 15 members and one chapter in the Bay Area. In 2022, WiBD is a global organization with over 50 chapters and 20,000+ members. Our core team of volunteers is over 150 amazing individuals with dedication and thought leadership to support the local communities and global initiatives. We all believe in building a vibrant community for gender quality in technology through education and awareness.
Volunteering is a great way to gain work experience, develop valuable skills and connections.
Volunteering, particularly with an industry organization, provides an opportunity to develop leadership skills in many ways
Volunteers can gain different perspectives, build relationships, and master new skills.
Volunteers will also learn about community, about trends and issues, about people and about resources. All of which can help developing leadership potential .
There are several different level of opportunities
while volunteering with Women in Big Data.
By joining an existing chapter in your region and supporting the chapter with their local programs. This may include organizing a networking event, training workshop, hackathon, covering social media and other communications.
Or you may establish a new chapter with its core team by following the guidelines.
You may support a global program such as global mentoring initiative , global conference, scholarship program, etc..
